They wouldn’t let me see the body. They said the wolves got to it. The young ranger who saw it will never be the same, they said. Hardly recognizable, they said. Over the phone, through the static of our open apartment window. My open apartment window, because you aren’t here anymore. And sometime last night you were face-down in the snow, hundreds of miles away. And sometime last night, sometime earlier, you were face-down in my chest, inside me. We were, for one moment then, whole and together. And I felt the lightness of anxiety leaving the body and held onto it so tightly, knowing that sometime, soon, it would be back.
Hi! Sorry to wake you, but I wanna talk to you.
Above is just a teaser of a project I’m planning on this year called “They Wouldn’t Let Me See the Body.” It’s a web serial that takes place in the Songbirds world and follows the trans songbird Isla as she tries to carry on in the wake of a sudden tragedy.
This will be releasing bit-by-bit sometimes in the coming months. I’m unsure of the schedule for it, but I’m excited to be brining it to you and getting some fiction-writing out into the world again.
Other than that, Songbirds is only live for two more days. Friday is the last day! We’ve already met our goal, but all money over the goal will be going to continuing this career, buying my cat some nice treats, and affording HRT as I continue my transition.
So go back it! Help me spread it around!
The last thing I want to mention for those of you who enjoy .dungeon is that I’ve been in pre-production for a new .dungeon//remastered book slated for later this year. Well, this week marks the beginning of production-production, meaning that I’m writing it and will be writing more of it right after this goes live.
The book is going to be an “adventure guide” that will help GMs and player explore Annwn and run games with ease. It will also feature a new way to play that is more akin to a hack than anything, along with additional character options, and rules for making a character that has been playing for a long time.
So it’s an expansion of .dungeon//remastered and I’m very excited for it. I’m already in talks with an artist and yeah! It’s just very excited. If you’re on the Nerves discord server, you’ll have already seen some very tiny teases of it.
That’s all I have to share with you this week. Go back Songbirds and keep an eye out here next week for the weekly newsletter where I’ll be sharing a bunch of cool shit that I like, including some zine month projects that look super rad.
Till then,
Snow <3
